Overview

What our Making Tax Digital service covers

Making Tax Digital is HMRC's plan to move tax reporting online. It already applies to VAT, and Making Tax Digital for Income Tax Self Assessment is now being introduced for sole traders and landlords. Being ready means keeping digital records and filing through compatible software.

We help you work out what applies to you, choose the right software and move to digital record-keeping without fuss. After that, we take care of the ongoing submissions.

FAQs

Common questions about Making Tax Digital

If you are VAT-registered, MTD for VAT already applies. If you are a sole trader or landlord, MTD for Income Tax applies from 6 April 2026 where qualifying income is over £50,000, with lower thresholds following in later years. We can confirm exactly where you stand.

You need HMRC-compatible software that keeps digital records and submits updates. We will recommend and set up a suitable option for your business.

Under MTD for Income Tax you send HMRC a summary of your income and expenses every quarter, followed by a final declaration after the year end. We prepare and submit these for you.
