General

General

An accountant keeps you compliant (accounts, tax returns, VAT and payroll), makes sure your records are accurate, claims the allowances and expenses you are entitled to, and helps you plan ahead and make better decisions. We take the financial admin off your plate and help you keep more of what you earn, legitimately.

Tax & deadlines

Tax & deadlines

For a typical tax year, online returns and any tax due are generally due by 31 January, with paper returns due earlier by 31 October. We file well ahead of time. Always confirm current dates on GOV.UK.

Registration is compulsory once your taxable turnover exceeds £90,000 over any rolling 12-month period, or if you expect to exceed it within 30 days. Some businesses also register voluntarily.

For the 2026/27 tax year, the small profits rate is 19% on profits up to £50,000, and the main rate is 25% on profits over £250,000, with Marginal Relief in between. Figures can change at fiscal events, check GOV.UK.

If you are VAT-registered, MTD for VAT already applies. For sole traders and landlords, MTD for Income Tax applies from 6 April 2026 where qualifying income is over £50,000, with lower thresholds following. We can confirm where you stand.
